Hey. I know this is kind of out of nowhere but I figured I should probably introduce myself. I'm Jaime and we met the last time you were here. Shinji said he already told you about that?

[The time is still in the AM, but it's actually been a couple hours since Ken picked up the phone to make the call. There was a lot of punching Minato's number and setting it down, and at one point he almost just didn't. Maybe it would be better to just not say anything? In the end, though, at just a few minutes before eleven o'clock, he finally lets the phone ring.]

Hey Minato-san. I was wondering -- are you free today? I promised Koromaru I'd take him to the park in Heropa, and I thought he might like it if you came along.

[Hey, leader- I hope you're interested in getting strange, rambling text messages at a weird time in the morning. Because by now, Shinjiro has been going through his contact lists, casting out a fairly wide net to try and find any sort of inclusion, anyone to open up to, driven on by his currently-addled-mind.

And Minato is definitely one of the first on the list. Sure, they hadn't really know each other for long before Shinjiro's death-- but that's part of the problem, isn't it? He'd barely let himself come close to learning anything about their leader. Seen a movie with him when the guy insisted... but that had really been about it.

And right now, driven and pressed with this need to be closer to people? He can't let that opportunity go by him again.]

[Ken knows it wasn't too messy, he made the bed when he got out of it that morning and he killed time tidying up what little if anything Minato had... mostly meticulously straightening things out or spending twenty minutes on getting wrinkled out of the sheets]

Hey they set up the park with a bunch of christmas lights with the tree lot nearby. We should go check it out

[Sometime during the 24th, Minato will receive a package addressed to him infront of his door. Should he open it, he'll find a card and a near perfectly wrapped present. It seems silly considering they live so close, but since Akihiko and Shinjiro made plans to take a short vacation, Akihiko was sure to have things mailed.]

[On the eighteenth, Minato will find two presents with his name on them underneath the tree. One is tube shaped, and the other is a rather large box. Whether he chooses to open them early or not, inside will be: One of those cheesy multiple picture frame thingamabobs and an unframed poster of a violin. Inside the picture frame are some pictures of their mutual friends and trips. There's no card, mostly because Jaime plans on being present when Minato opens it as one of those little perks of living together.

Respectively, his commentary on the presents goes as follows:

"I thought you could use some pictures of everyone! You're probably gonna wanna put some pictures of some other friends and Riku in there, but hey, it's up to you. I still can't believe we got Shinji in that Mickey hat."

and:

"Dude, you seriously need to decorate your walls. Classy, right?"]

[Guess who probably should have mailed his things with Akihiko. (apparently they should collaborate more.) Either way, Minato will end up with his gift- Decently wrapped, if still messy, in some sort of cheap christmas paper that has dogs with antlers and red noses.

He'll be getting some books of sheet music (Most of which say VIOLIN on them, though there are a few for the wrong instrument. Usually ones that aren't labelled as prominently.) as well as a SimCity/Age of Empires-esque building/strategy game for the DS.

they only note is a quickly-scrawled: "Merry Christmas."]

[Ken spent the morning of Christmas at Nonah and is going to spend the early evening with Dipper, but first he drops by Minato's home first. If he's lucky, he'll be able to catch him before he goes out, maybe, and be able to give him his gift.

In his arms is a rather -- incredibly -- large box, wrapped amazingly nicely. Ken has no such papercraft skill, but the nice thing about being this young and being friendly with natives is that there are plenty of people willing to help if he asked. Days ago, visiting a school friend and sitting with their mother and getting this wrapped had been Ken's biggest mission. It's just hard to keep a hold on and also be able to knock on the door, but he manages.

Now all he has to do is wait. Hopefully someone will answer. He could've just dropped it off, but he wanted to see Leader at least once today, too.]

[thankfully Lapis takes a page out of Minato's book and puts his gifts in the mailbox rather than scattering them around the doorstep as she's been doing with some of the earlier presents. there's still not sender label, though.

along with whatever mailbox items he hasn't already picked up, Minato will be finding a bottle of water with a blue bow tied around its neck, the ribbon trails significantly longer than the bottle itself. there is also a small tear in the label as Lapis has completely given up trying to write names on these ribbed bottles, it is the actual worst.

additionally, he's got a new friend for the holidays. someone doesn't understand she bought half her presents in the toy aisle and is feeling really good that she found something that matched up to somebody's hobby for once. Merry Christmas!]

Mr. Arisato? This is Edgeworth. I have a question about your... charge.

[Heropa wasn't Kaneda's usual daily stop--but he tended to frequent it rather regularly. Riku lived there, Lucky Cat Cafe was there, and the warmer climate made for a nice way to thaw after a long bike ride.

But this time he had something to drop off to Heropa 015. It's nothing fancy, not even wrapped, and honestly, he found it while roaming Maurtia Fall's junkyard again. A broken pocket watch, once all silver, but now with hints of dark blue trim and interior. The roman numerals stand out around it, and the silver chain. Not one of worst touch ups, to say the least. It was hard getting into the more details parts of the watch, but dismantling the lids from the watch itself certainly helped.

Honestly, it was overdue. With all that Minato did with Ken, with Tetsuo, he knew he had to give something--thanks were just words sometimes. Ken trusted Minato with his life, told him everything, things he wouldn't even tell Kaneda.

And he had to put his trust in both of them, even if his heart didn't adjust to it.

It's before Minato comes home, and he's let in by one of the other house members. It's quick, in and out before he can even be offered anything or to catch up. Walking into Minato's room and laying the pocketwatch down on the table.

[On this, the most important romance-related holiday of the year, Minato receives a card delivered by a flying pig. The pig was probably supposed to look sort of like cupid, as is appropriate for the day, but Mabel made the wings way more bat-like than cherubic. Oops!

The package is left on Minato's bed to be discovered when he gets home. While Ken usually hands things to him in person, this was one thing he felt Minato should be allowed to react to in private, without worrying about putting up a facade for anyone who might be watching. It's still obvious who the gift is from -- even if it's placed in a blue bag instead of his signature orange, who else can let himself into the house and just to leave something for Minato? And his handwriting is unmistakeable too, the carefully but clumsily written 湊さん on a notecard placed on top of the wrapped gift.

Ken didn't go so crazy with the scrapbook like Jaime did. The photos he placed in the book (neatly with double sided tape to avoid glue messes) are framed with simple construction paper borders in varying shades of dark blue. He even picked out stickers to accent the pages with -- cherry blossoms for the pages covering their DC day, a lot of dog ones as chosen by Koromaru (some of them have dents that look suspiciously like dog teeth), and music symbols. The photos don't cover just the flower viewing from last week but also the road trip from last year as well as the other random gatherings they had over the past year. Anything Ken was able to document of Minato's time here, he placed them in.

At the very back is another notecard that he slipped in. It's not secured on, so it might fall out when the book is opened, but on it it says, "We know things aren't going to last. As long as we live there are going to be goodbyes and loss. All we have is 'now,' but 'now' is the one thing we do have no matter what. I hope for Minato-san, 'now' can be something you are happy to have."
